Strength of Impact Glass

Impact (laminated) glass consists of three panes of glass bonded together with a thin, clear film in between the panes. Even if the glass is damaged, the interlayer will hold the glass fragments secure in the frame and continue to keep unwanted elements outside. These products also help guard your family against would-be intruders.

Our impact laminated glass and laminated insulating glass are designed to withstand repeated impact from a nine-pound 2 x 4 beam traveling at 34 miles per hour.

Non-Impact Glass:
Tempered vs. Annealed

Our non-impact windows are designed for years of reliable performance and smooth operation, opening and closing easily and quietly. Fortifying non-impact windows with hurricane panels or accordion shutters offers additional protection in the event of a storm.

Unlike standard annealed glass, tempered glass uses thermal and chemical treatments to increase the toughness of the glass. As a result, when broken, the glass crumbles into small granular chunks, rather than sharp, jagged edges that are less likely to cause injury.

Insulation &
Energy Efficiency

Insulated glass has at least two panes of glass separated by an air gap. This air gap reduces air-to-air heat transfer and is a highly effective means of conserving energy.
